I am a seaman
I am a seaman. These words are dedicated to those who have no connection with this way of living, because in fact, this job is indeed a way of living. Although for those who are related with this existence, I propose them to read the following lines, either only to find themselves as characters or to confirm or infirm to myself that what I am about...

The beginnings could be very tough…
I’m young – only 19 years old and in 2006 I went to my first contract. I’ve found the advertisement on one of the marine’s sites. I’ve rang there and a nice lady informed me that the place is still free and if I want I can go. I’ve agree at once. There was only one problem – the departure was to be in two days time – I was terrified because of my girlfriend – where was a time for the last conversations, saying good by…

Adventure on Mediterranean Sea
26 of February 2008, I thought that it will be another "normal" day on board, where usually are only routine jobs and something unusual it happens not so often. In this moment we were underway from United States to Europe and we have just crossed Gibraltar Strait, and started our euro trip.
As a young deck cadet I've got a lot of confidence from master's and chieff's side during this voyage. They allowed me to performed navigational watch alone on the bridge during day, of course with fix contact on UHF with them, in case of some questions from my side. I have to tell this: I was in big stress during first alone hours. Making navigation and steering of chemical tanker can causes feelings of responsibility and respect for this sizes of hull. On every next watch I was more calm and more sure of my skills. These two weeks alone on the bridge, were the best practice in my life. I think that as a young 3rd off, I will avoid fear of first alone watch.
I remember this day very well, I was on my watch and I was looking at the sea around me...
